Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
February 4th, 2009 by Beth

Many people today are recording podcasts, webinars, messages and more via their computers. Audacity is an awesome (and free) audio editor and recorder that takes little time to master.

With Audacity, you can record a clip, cut out your mistakes, add in other audio and end up with a professional sound bite (IF you use a great microphone… otherwise it’ll always sound homemade).

I just used this recently to help a familt member splice a few tracks together and was impressed by how functional this free gem of a program was. There’s also a fair amount of documentation out there too.

I used an older version of Audacity to pull in some music on cassette tape from a couple of rock bands I was in during high school and college. I thought this was a great program back then — it’s great to see it’s still being developed and improved.
