Yugma: Free desktop sharing
January 12th, 2009 by Beth

yugma_logoThis afternoon I had an impromptu meeting about a PowerPoint presentation I was working on. I conferenced together Chris in Maine and Ian in Connecticut to review the project.

We needed to see the PowerPoint at the same time, so I started an online screensharing meeting with the free version of Yugma. Within minutes, the three of us were looking at my screen as we discussed the project and I took notes.

As a small business owner who works remotely from your clients, you now have a super powerful tool to bring your clients together.  Yugma can be your secret weapon. You will look professional and prepared when you are able to share desktops to collaborate. With the free version, you can bring together up to 20 people to see your screen — perfect for small presentations or to pitch a proposal.

The upgraded version is fairly reasonable if you need other people to control the desktop or more people online together. But I find the free version fine for my small business needs.

Hi Beth,
If you’re after a free screen sharing tool that includes a meeting scheduler, switch presenter, remote keyboard/mouse control, and whiteboard all at no cost, I’d like to suggest Mikogo.
Mikogo is very easy to get started and use. You can start a desktop sharing session with a couple of mouse clicks.

Regards,
Andrew

I came accross this blog on accident, but I really wanted to leave a post about Yugma. It has been so great for me as a working mother who travels. When I’m traveling and my children need help with homework such as editing a paper or ppt for example they are able to share mouse and keyboard control with me and I am able to make any necessary changes in their document right in front of their eyes (like I’m sitting at the computer with them). It is great for business too, as my company uses it for conference calls and online meetings. It is so reasonably priced (the lowest pro account starts at $14.95 per month for 20 attendees). Or you can use the free version which lets you have 20 attendees too! Thanks Yugma!
