Xobni: Your inbox, only better
January 12th, 2009 by Beth

Xobni is “inbox” in reverse, but this free Outlook plugin is anything but backward.

Once you install, your Xobni dashboard appears in your inbox. When you get an email, you see all kinds of fun facts, such as the email conversations you’ve exchanged, the times of the day that your contact usually sends emails, the other people who have been included in your conversation. Plus all the attachments you’ve exchanged are listed together.

There are plenty of other little tricks, but my favorite feature is a simple one. How many times have you gotten an email about a meeting and had to switch to your calendar to check availability? You have to switch back and forth between the inbox and the calendar, cutting and pasting phone numbers, figuring out meeting times, etc. But when you switch to the calendar, Xobni keeps the last email you viewed in the dashboard. No more flipping back and forth.

Xobni isn’t bad, do you have any write-ups on Outlook Track-It? That’s the one I’m using right now. Not switching for a long time. I needed followup reminders, and this was the right add-on.

Sam – I too use Outlook Track-It and I’ve blogged about it a few times. It’s amazing. Xobni is great, this is a different program though. Outlook Track-It can also give reminders to the recipient.
